“Music, Travel and New Perspectives” (Lisa)

! POST IN TRANSLATION !

Hello, my name is Lisa. I arrived in Porto two weeks earlier because, among other things, I travelled there by train. By the time I met the others at the airport, I was already pretty exhausted from everything that had happened before. I gained a lot of experiences and insights that helped me become more grounded personally. This concerns my ideas about the future in the environment I come from, as well as how I deal with other people, animals and nature. These things were already there before, but travelling continues to give me a better understanding of complex connections.

And I think it definitely had an influence on the music sessions that followed.

Beforehand, I had put more thought into the preparation than was actually needed for the warm-up. I was impressed by how Nora and Ridchie guided the course using such simple steps. When I took on one of the tasks, it took a little courage to present it to the group as
briefly and precisely as possible. From my perspective, there was a certain scepticism from one side or the other, which made me feel a little insecure from time to time.

All the more amusing it was to observe how Ridchie and Nora fully embraced their positions as leaders.

Over the two days, I went through a great variety of emotional states. Sometimes I feel unseen, and sometimes I fail because of my own impatience.

For me, it is therefore always a learning experience to find out when it is better to withdraw — or, ideally, to switch to communication techniques that give me an appropriate way of expressing myself.

But now to the musical part. I can still remember feeling a little awkward during the first workshop in February.

Now in Paredes, I felt more deeply connected to the overall idea. I am less sceptical towards the principle of mistakes, and I see this openness to mistakes as a key to new techniques and harmonies.

Sometimes I sit at home at the piano and go on solo improvisation journeys. Through this, my connection with the instrument has become more affectionate, and it is a nice change from learning pieces.
